Crutch Tips, Rubber

Definition : Detachable rubber tips applied to the distal end of crutches (i.e., crutch tips) designed to provide skid-resistant traction. These tips, typically hollow cylinders made of rubber, are open only at the top; the tips slide high enough (i.e., two to three inches) up the shaft of the crutches to secure them onto the crutches. Treads on the bottom surface of the tips enhance frictional engagement to the floor. Rubber crutch tips help the crutch user gain traction on the ground, ease shock to the shoulder, and prevent other injuries from accidental falls. They can easily be replaced when worn out or damaged.
