Exercisers, Balance, Ball

Definition : Balance exercisers designed to improve the ability to maintain proper posture by using the unstable surface of a ball. These exercisers usually consist of a synthetic or rubber ball approximately 65 cm in diamter; users try to maintain their balance during exercises on the unstable surfaces. Ball balance exercisers are used to train for stability and balance by means of exercises such as twisting, walking, or sitting on the ball; for flexibility by means of exercises such as stretching while holding, sitting, or lying on the ball; they are also used in strength exercises using the user's own weight for resistance, such as lying on the ball doing push-ups or holding the ball between the user's back and the wall doing squats. Ball balance exercisers are intended to improve stability, balance, and coordination; additionally, they can improve muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility in the upper body/torso and lower body.
